Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I originally wrote a post about Rich Miller who, reverting to his apparent idol Governor Pritzker style, throws assorted critical straw man arguments at those that are not in agreement with the ideals of the far left camp of Illinois Chicago Democrats. However after rereading the article I recognized some truth from Miller regarding the Republicans when he wrote “Most members of that once powerful donor class have passed away, retired and/or left Illinois.” Yes Rich I agree. Many people in Illinois have died and, more importantly “left Illinois.” So, you got that one right Rich regarding people are leaving… Read more »
I’m guessing he will be a little too busy to respond as he begins packing his own bags to leave.
Another quick down vote I seem to get when posting about Mr Miller. The downvote is so fast I so often surmise it is Miller himself once again monitoring the postings here particularly the ones about him that come about on the weekends. So, Mr Miller, rather than the quick downvote, why not instead answer the question that I asked? Seriously though Rich, you don’t like to answer outside your blog where you can eradicate posts and ban the poster regarding tough questions you don’t like. I guess you cringe inside though as you wish that you could ban me… Read more »
Riverbender – the reason they leave is because Democrats want them gone. There is simply no place for rich conservative billionaires in a progressive utopia. Every state policy is designed around marginalizing and removing conservatives culturally and politically. And the effect is that conservatives leave. As for the ‘dysfunctionality’ of the IL GOP – this is not unique or uncommon in one-party ruled states. Rich naively makes this out to be a uniquely Illinois problem, and if Republicans would be more like Democrats, then they’d come back into power again. This is laughable stupidity. As I repeatedly point out, the… Read more »

Recall that those who have left IL, are having to double back and make sure they have been removed from voter role. Democrats never change.
Evidence? Yawn… You lost in 2018, you lost in 2020, you lost in 2022…here comes 2024? You’re losers. MAGAs never change.
