Do people really buy into this? Seems like a recall is in order, although I don’t think you can recall a Chicago mayor. The solution is simple and has worked for decades: hire more qualified cops and increase the police technology budget.
How about the so called leadership of the CPD, probably on orders from City Hall, cancelling days off, mandatory 12 hour shifts for several days in a row that’s causing so much overtime? How about the fact that the CPD cannot attract recruits to the CPD because of the multitudes of consent degrees, state laws, uncooperative states attorney, multiple multiple layers of investigatory agencies that review every action even many from years ago to find a reason to suspend or fire officers for the slightest action? The article barely mentioned the continued practice of day off cancellation and mandatory 12 hours shifts. Nothing about the failure of police administration to properly deploy manpower, so I guess I did read the article. SMH!
