Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. the police killing of George Floyd
Floyd died of a heart attack after overdosing on drugs and resisting arrest. He told arresting officers that he was “hooping,” i.e. he had shoved narcotics up his arse, perhaps to avoid being caught with them. Officer Derek Chauvin was restraining Floyd using a Minneapolis Police Department-approved technique, to keep him from harming himself or others. Chauvin’s knee did not cause Floyd’s death, but the medical examiner’s report was falsified.
Derek Chauvin is one of many political prisoners in the United States. Shameful!
I agree. The knee on the neck was not the cause of death. Another knee on his lower back, pressing on the diaphragm, was a bigger issue and still not the cause of death. Because St George was already in “air hunger” from the fentanyl. He was going to die, it just took a few minutes for him to do so. Chauvin should have let him die of natural causes.
The DNC is the perfect occasion to show progressive Dems what defunding the police really looks like. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch.
Well said. Johnson & Pritzker don’t want the party attendees to experience the liberal utopia the the Illinois Democratic machine built for the rest of us to live in. The police, the ones that risk their lives every day, to only see the bad guys back on the street the next day are pawns in the political maneuvering of incompetent leadership.
