Pritzker, Johnson pledge massive boost for violence prevention programs – Chicago Sun-Times

VIOLENCE-071124071024-6.jpgThe $100 million in private donations is part of a target of $400 million in spending to increase the number of participants in anti-violence programs to half, and then three-quarters, of all Chicago residents who are considered at the highest level of risk of shooting someone or being shot themselves. The public-private effort is called Scaling Community Violence Prevention for a Safer Chicago or SC2.

A modest proposal to eliminate violence in this city: simply remove those most likely to become violent criminals. Removed to where, and by what means, we can leave to right-thinking experts.

Problem solved.

The usual solution to a never ending violent crime epidemic in certain neighborhoods, open window throw out lots of cash, repeat as often as necessary.

Praise the Lord! We finally have the solution. Those poor souls who shoot innocent people, steal cars for a living, and sell drugs after they murdered their rivals– all they need is to get a little comforting from these new payrollers from City Hall. And if we just take care of all those nasty disinvestment issues, those neighborhoods will just be fine and dandy and will be rid of all those shooter and muggers.

Simple solution: More Cops. Prosecute and convict the criminals. Keep them in prison.

Now that makes sense!!!

I lose track – is this waste – I mean expenditure of tax payers dollars an “INVESTMENT IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES” or funding for the police departments who were, most recently, vilified as part of the problem? Where is that dang meteor?

Hope it works this time, whatever it’s now to be called, and it doesn’t end up on the ash heap of progressive failures. In the meantime, enforce the law and crack down on criminals and put them in prison. Or is that just too hard for progressive Leftist Democrats?

JackBolly, it isn’t intended to work, it’s intended for the political thieves to enrich themselves. They want crime to thrive and stay around so these complete moron crooks in power can keep dumping money into these grifting programs to enrich their political donors. They don’t have to worry about crime living behind their gated communities. They are the real true enemies and treasonists of our time.

Exactly correct Patriot, they are “the” true enemies and tyrants of our time. These people are just pure criminals and “money changers”. DOWN WITH THE CROWN!

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, and against worldly governors, the princes of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness, which are in the high places. This is exactly what we are dealing with especially with these circus clowns that were “selected” and put into office.

100% correct! Refusal to obey ungodly orders from a king is honorable to God!

Ugh. Once again, the Dems create or allow the problem (in this case, runaway, violent crime in Chicago), then spend millions or billions of mostly taxpayer dollars to try to fix it.

mqyl, they are funneling this money to their pockets. Programs are the biggest grift, only solution is more policing and strict prison sentences. This will never happen, the dirtbag politicians are in it for themselves and self dealing.

So a $100M will end up going to gang members who do most of the shootings as an incentive not to shoot anyone anymore. They will then end up with enough money to buy heavy artillery like the “Ole Painless” Gatling gun from Predator.

Hows that “diversity” working for you Chicago?

Florian Sohnke

Poorly, to say the least. Chicago, like any city throughout all human history, has only ever thrived when it ran itself in accordance with the natural order.

Perhaps someday, God willing, it will again.

This is a total joke and complete political thievery. Check this clown and other Chicago clown politicians bank accounts, they are definitely robbing the taxpayers blind.

From the article “$100 million in private funding for anti-violence programs that target residents who are statistically likely to be involved in gun violence as a shooter or victim.” I just wonder if there are racial statistics of the “statistically likely” groups? After all so much I read about these days has the label “race” attached to it why not on this situation? Just asking

Absolutely. They made it about race, let’s talk race.

And of course they only make it about one race in particular.

Note to the left: it’s not whites who are raping teens, stealing jobs, and terrorizing citizens.

Another fleecing of the taxpayers this isn’t going to do a damn thing but be ripe with fraud. Giving money again to nonprofit organizations with zero absolutely zero accountability. Remember the program governor Pat Quinn started and he was involved in a scandal and eventually voted out of office the neighborhood initiative program and was ripe with fraud, this is the cousin to his program going from 50 million to almost 400 million now.

Also, all that money spent in 2023, and the number of shootings is up in 2024 in the city? Makes it obvious these programs have minimal impact, if any, at best.

Fed up neighbor

Minimal impact is correct, when people want to contribute to society and participate in life then they will become somebody instead of relying on the government handout’s, and that is the biggest problem, HANDOUTS until, this stops all hell will continue to break out. What aggravates me is that these brain dead politicians think money is this solution to this problem and it’s not.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
