Chicago mayor: Trump ‘trying to bring back the Confederacy’ – FOX32 (Chicago)

Both Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor JB Pritzker have reaffirmed their support for Joe Biden, as other Democrats, including Illinois congressmen Brad Schneider and Mike Quigley, have called on him to step aside. Johnson said of Donald Trump, "This person has made it clear he has not accepted the results of the Civil War, and he wants a rematch. They are literally trying to bring back the Confederacy."

The mayor didn’t explain why another democrat, other than Biden, wouldn’t be able to win the election and do all of the great things that he claims Biden has done. Why does Johnson still think Biden is capable of showing-up?

Idiots prevail and only they make sense of progressive policy.

Well, he did have a short conversation with him once. Doesn’t that make him an expert on Biden’s mental state?

This is irresponsible and dangerous talk from a Chicago mayor. He is not only trying to pour gasoline on simmering racial tensions, he is flat out lying or bordering on delusional. The 3rd largest city in the United States needs thoughtful and effective leadership that recognizes and unites all its citizens. By constantly denigrating the white population he foments acrimony and impedes critical forward progress for this city.

Bet the Mayor and near everyone of his CPS graduates can’t even tell you who the President of the Confederacy was. Or why Democrats seceded from the union. Or who started the Republican party. Or why after the war Democrats started the KKK.

I had to move from the south to IL in the late 80’s for my job, and here I found an active chapter of the KKK.

Mayor BJ and “Let’s go” Brandon personify their party’s mascot, the jackass.

By his own admission, he is overwhelmed just being a husband to a Black woman and father to three Black children.

Folks, this goof was actually a teacher before he landed in the mayor’s office!

Now you know why Johnny can’t read, write or do math at grade level.

You Brandon have exposed yourself as a racist by this rebuttal, you must really go back and read your history book, take the other clown (Pritzker) with you to the library.

The Republican Party and the Democrats switched places in the 70s (the Southern Strategy), so Brandon in all his blowhardiness is kinda right on this point. Trump wants Confederate statues, Confederate base names, and his bigotry is almost as poorly concealed as Tucker Carlsons.

Good God almighty. Read more please. Trump wants all the statues to remain as they are the Country’s history, good or bad…it is our history and should be celebrated. Any bigotry you seem to feel is just simple common sense for law enforcement and maintaining a secure boarder. If that hurts your feelings…sorry. If you are referring to the half statement that “there are good people on both sides”….go read the entire statement and not just the clip the news marionettes keep repeating – because it is not complete or correct. You’ve been brain-washed and programmed by the news media… Read more »

There is little use in using facts, logic and history.

There is no reason to have public statues and honor to people who rebelled against the United States so they could own slaves. Stick the statues in a museum. Stick the names in a history book.

And yes, their stated goal was to defend slavery.

Trump is New York, born and bred. He doesn’t give two chits about the Confederacy. But stopping woke liberals from their nuttiness is a good thing. Rewriting history is one of the nutty things woke liberals want to do (1619 project anyone?).

Why do so many high-seniority teachers dream about moving to the Land of Cotton — and forget about the Old Times of February in Chicago?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
