Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. It could be a blessing in the long run if they move to a RED state.
There won’t be any white man ‘gentrification’ boogeyman of Harvey. The reality is that Harvey will turn hispanic just like the rest of the south side and the blacks will be pushed out. This Democrat lifer is too stupid, and partisan, to realize the Great Replacement doesn’t replace white people, it replaces people like him. Many in the black community are having their redpill moments but apparently this mayor’s redpill didn’t have any effect. He just needs more political pain, requiring stronger doses of redpills to cure his Democrat delusions.
To be fair the south suburban death spiral started with off shoring and extortionist unions chasing out production back in the 70s. If the state and county were more hospitable to business maybe manufacturing would still occur in these places. The voters’ “vote blue no matter who” ideology only fuels the decline.
Isn’t that racist? Ghosts are usually White
Blacks might want to stop voting for Democrats then. It seems that it’s not in their best interests.
I don’t think it matters with the way they count the votes
Harvey is already halfway to a ghost town.
Mayor Clark makes valid points, and concludes that “something needs to be done.” While there’s probably plenty of waste and inefficiency in the municipal and County governments, he doesn’t seem to recognize that school districts, often called “education,” are the biggest tax burden. He might start by advocating for restoration of the “Invest in Kids” program, to reduce government “education” costs and improve outcomes. He might also suggest that Cook County assess vacant land at 25% of value, rather than 10%, which would encourage construction of housing or other useful things on vacant sites.
Well lets give credit where credit is due namely the black voters who vote blue no matter who and never saw a taxpayer funded social program they didn’t like. They are now facing the situation described in Margaret Thatcher’s often quoted statement regarding that sooner or later the ability to spend other peoples money comes to an end when the pocketbooks empty. The sad thing is many residents will move elsewhere, continue voting the exact same way creating the same situation in other towns and villages. Life in Illinois continues on…
Excellent.
