Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. How about we rationalize the number of schools Chicago actually needs first. This type of investment is far above otherwise saner costs of construction, so lets spread those ludicrous costs over as many enrolled pupils as possible per school.
Take one look at the enrollment and employees by school and you will get an idea of which ones need to consolidate.
Absent that, hard pass.
Students can function at grade level and rather than address the problems, they fuss over having green buildings? What are they thinking?

Lets have a school built that will serve1000 students…have 50 in the school and 70 employees. Absolutely. Investment. That’s what we need, more and more investment.
