Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
Given the current Mid-East situation, Harris cannot pick Prixter or Shapiro, as it would destroy the Dem Party into pieces
“Hearing there was a progressive revolt last night over Shapiro as VP, several WH staffers that went all in on Palestine (wearing the keffiyeh, attending protests) openly threatening to quit, one donor also threatening to withhold millions”

Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local 130, signed a letter in support of Pritzker as vice president.
Just how much did he pay the plumbers for the removal of those toilets…? ? ?
Not sure if true but the plumbers that took out the toilets made a windfall by getting a contract during Covid at McCormick Place or somewhere like that around $7M. I may have read that at one of the links someone provided.
I asked the same question. 4 generations of Plumbers here and my dad is spinning in his grave. Coyne can pucker up and kiss my ass, He just got re elected with about 15% support of the membership. I wonder if he polled the members about this support and questions about jobs leaving Illinois at break neck speed
I have never really understood the attachment unions have with the Democrat party in current times. Government unions yes but other unions like the Plumbers? One of the most union job damning situations happened when Bill Clinton, a Democrat, signed NAFTA that caused thousands upon thousands of union job losses. A recent GM purchase by me for example was produced at the Sialo Mexico plant and not in the USA plants. Teamsters, one of the strongest unions ever, have been strongly curtailed as a result of Jimmie Carter’s trucking deregulation as former Teamsters found themselves newly cast as non union… Read more »
Kamala has no interest whatsoever in JB as a running mate.. They only want his big fat wallet.
I do suspect that the supposed interest is all rigged, at JB’s request, to make him look important.
Jay Roberts ego is only matched by his girth. He could care less about the people
In the State of Illinois.
He cares for the people who vote for him and the issues they care about. He gives them abortion, drugs, corporate welfare, and aids their causes like illegal immigrants and #resistance to Drumph. But for the people downstate who voted against him?
Hell hath no fury like the progressives’ scorn for supposed right-wing fascists.
Pritzker does not carry a wallet. He thinks it makes him look fat.
Ha!! Official funniest comment of the day!!!
It is shocking that a state suffering from his GROSS, and HUGE mismanagement is an example of his fitness for the role of Vice President.
It is clear evidence of the failure of progressive policies that Newsome, Jabba, etc. are the best they can muster as a running mate for the Queen of the Word Salad,
That is exactly why he may be selected.
Please Please Please make it so!!! Illinois wins with JB gone, Democrats nationally lose with JB on the ballot and everyone wins as JB drains his fortune on this wild goose chase. Please make it happen!!!!
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if JB joins the Harris ticket and loses, we’re still stuck with him. He isn’t up for reelection this year and doesn’t have to resign as governor unless he and Harris win.
JB gone for an hour, a day, a month or three months is a win for Illinois. And the draining of his silver spoon fortune chasing a fever dream is icing on the cake.
The rumor is that Obama doesn’t want a joo because he’s afraid it will cost them Michigan and it will cause a fight on the floor of the convention, there’s rampant antisemitism in the Democrat party, and he knows it.
Right. And don’t forget that Obama himself is deeply anti semitic.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but Obama and I actually agree: I don’t like the either.
Another one of those rare comments Mark. You block people that make truthful comments that you disagree with but allow these trashy comments through. But keep getting mad at the person pointing out the awful comments instead of directing your energy in the right place.
Funny how those racist comments appear shortly before you flag them, before anybody here sees them to remove them. Just coincidence, no doubt. We don’t block truthful comments or things we disagree with. Go back to grubbing for your miserable pension. Nobody will block you.
That’s some simplistic thinking Mark but not surprising. It’s less coincidental and more the fact that I’m no longer just letting the comments go unnoticed and instead I’m drawing your attention to the matter. I have pointed out these comments in the past and usually let them go. Last week I pointed them out and your solution was to censor and block most of my comments because you didn’t like me shining a light on this issue you have with some commenters here. You claim it only happens once every three years (or some other ridiculous exaggeration) so since then… Read more »
You were blocked last week only when a whole slew of comments were deleted because we had a major attack on the site that took it down for a whole day. BTW, the offender that gets through sometimes appears to be the same guy using a VPN and language to evade the software. Most of the attacks and some of yours were on our fundraising piece, which was particularly slimy, so we stopped comments on that piece. You apparently have complete disregard for the effort needed by our time to keep our comments open 24/7 and looking out for bad… Read more »
And I should have added. We delete libel.
you sound like one very angry d.j., mark
Why would you call a pension miserable? Would you say that to my father, whose CPD pension took care of him after he risked his life serving this city for 30 years?
No, I wouldn’t say that to most pensioners. I say it to PPF because he expressly says he doesn’t care one bit about how much other state services are hurt by prioritizing pensions or how much damage is done to the state by raising taxes to pay for them. Not one penny of shared sacrifice by him, he says.
Censored and blocked.
I come to this site for analysis and to see how conservative policy can be advanced in my once and future home state and instead all I see is an editor yelling at his readers. Not sure what’s going on here Mark but it’s not a good look for our side.
So you’d like us to leave in a comment about “joos”? I hope this isn’t really your future home.
@Mark Glennon, if the point is to keep anti-Semitic comments in the gutter where they belong, why did you take out whatever word was in @Steve’s comment but leave @a reader’s “d.j.” shot at you intact?
You should see the other thread. Mark’s readers are apparently racist in multiple languages.
Can you explain why we are getting multiple comments from your IP address using different names, some antisemitic?
Hi Mark – regular visitor here who happens to be an IT professional. Depending on a person’s ISP, device, home network configuration, etc., IP addresses aren’t usually unique to a specific person. Most are also masked via peered relay by a carrier or service provider.
Yes, understood. But it’s usually just one wifi hotspot in office or home. I would like their explanation.
I have no idea what it means. And the supposed racists here lately are fakes.
I spell it this way to get through the filter. It’s a highly relative topic in politics right now. We hate identity politics, and try to be colorblind, but our enemies are not. We would never attack a VP candidate for their identity – in fact, every criticism of Trumps’ VP came from a place of policy, and assasinatino insurance. But that’s not how the Democrat Party works. It all comes from a place of identity, because they already know the politics beforehand.
Hate to say it but it looks like it’s going to be him.
Not unless EVERYONE else on the list says no. Harris is allegedly already getting pushback from the pro-Palestine crowd for daring to consider Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania (also Jewish), so she would have absolutely nothing to gain from picking JB the Hutt.
What I’ve seen says it’s down to Kelly and Shapiro.
Who cares, either way they’re done for once this “Kamala honeymoon” is over with
It would be fun to watch but I still don’t see it happening. They need swing state help, plus, JB wouldn’t sit well with the Palestinian protest gang. If the US actually had a media that gave a damn about the truth, then they could point out what an extremist he is. Those days are gone.
Yeah, that path is strewn with rocks, weeds, quicksand, alligators… maybe a few dragons…
