Taxpayers pay $30 million more than projected for new Chicago transit stop – Center Square

The Damen Green Line project was first announced in 2017, with a projected completion date sometime in 2020 at a cost of $50 million. But in fact, Mayor Brandon Johnson cut the ribbon at the new station on Monday, and taxpayers paid more than $80 million for the station, with funding from the Kinzie Corridor Tax Increment Financing District.

What else is new? Chicago or IL financial wizards grossly underestimate the cost of a project. This is yet another form of taxpayer abuse.

The project most likely would have cost $20 million if handled in the private sector, but the government has to factor in the corruption element. The original corruption amount was obviously not enough. So they doubled it. $20 million for the project. $60 million stolen. Sounds about right for a City of Chicago project. And the slaves will continue to vote democrat.

Yes, kids, that’s not a $30 million CTA stop, it cost $30 million more than the Executive Directors told us Chumbolones it would cost back when they decided to enrich their family and pals by building a station that no one saw the need for since 1948. Chicago is broke. Illinois is broke. The RTA/CTA/Metra/Pace organizations are soon to run out of taxpayer withholdings to spend due to the Executive Director-caused financial crisis.
