Union leaders push for sports stadium funding from taxpayers – Center Square

State Sen. Andrew Chesney said this is a rare opportunity where progressives and conservatives come together.“The idea that we’re going to give these wealthy entities tax breaks is not something I support,” Chesney said.

Isn’t it enough for the Union thug bosses that Pritzker doubled the gas tax and indexed it to inflation to spend $43 billion dollars on capital projects? Or that the tollway system is undergoing non stop construction that will never end so they spend every penny of toll money collected? Now we need to build sport stadiums for underperforming teams owned by billionaires. Insanity.

It doesn’t matter if the teams are good or bad. Taxpayer abuse is taxpayer abuse. Anyway, the Bears have a good QB and an easy schedule, so they should make the playoffs. In the Sox case, Reinsdorf should be giving money back to the taxpayers instead of asking for more. The current team is historically rotten!

I for one am all for tripling taxes for the benefit of the McCaskeys. After all, you clowns need your bread and circuses. Pass these clowns another beer.

We can come together and pay more taxes for a pet project that benefits a few and not the masses. I know we love our sports, but its a business like any other business and the government should not be paying for its expenses when they cant afford to pay for keeping the city in good repair.
