There are no top professionals left running Chicago, they’re now all activists and organizers – Wirepoints on with WJOL’s Scott Slocum

Ted joined Scott Slocum to talk about the massive billion-dollar deficit facing Chicago next year, the reason why Chicago deserves the title as the nation’s murder capital, why it’s far from racist to talk about the city’s murders, the deficit in leadership among the city’s politicians, and more.

It would be best to remain quiet & be ‘suspected’ of being a fool…

Interesting… the guy who calls a group of people Nazis, himself engages in Nazi rhetoric. Oh, how deep the pool of irony…

There were never any top professionals running Chicago. Top professionals don’t work for the government. The otherwise unemployable work for the government. The lazy work for the government. The losers work for the government. The difference was that in the past there were more producers and fewer takers. So government grew itself out of problems. Now there are way more leeches than producers and the ponzi scheme isn’t working. The government only seemed to work before because most people were producers and expected something for their tax dollars. Leeches suck the blood of their hosts. They don’t expect anything from… Read more »

The leeches of the past were lazy, but competent. “The city that works”. The leeches today are all DEI hires with no competency requirements.

I love how you differentiate among types of leeches! In summary, if I may, the leeches never go away, but they may change form.

Way too much govt in IL. They have too much money. Aren’t there more than 7000 taxing units of govt in the state? For starters cut the legislating bodies in half. Wage freezes across the state levels too. We have school superintendent’s making more than the governor it’s crazy.

Wage stabilization—or even better—cuts for everyone but thee, right? That concept would satisfy all of us, but a free market economy isn’t likely to be all that friendly towards it. Sorry ’bout dat.

The problem is that government wages aren’t based in the free market. Those wages are centrally planned.. the antithesis to free markets. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could sit at a work meeting and just make a motion to increase pay, vote yes, and then get away without any consequences from the boss? Exhibit A … the General Assmebly. Exhibit B … the City Council (of any city/town) Exhibit C… the school boards. Exhibit D … the county boards. Exhibit E…. The park district boards… Exhibit F… and on and on. Oh, and then they vote for you to… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
