Commentary: We need a new approach to truly make a dent in Chicago’s violence – Chicago Sun-Times

"As with many wicked problems in public policy, two roads diverge — to spend or not to spend on existing programs — and we keep taking the one most traveled, ignoring that it isn’t making enough of a difference."

We need more than money. The real reason for violence in Black neighborhoods is education—not victim-hood, indoctrination, electric buses, or reparations. It’s about giving kids a solid, disciplined education that opens a path to the middle class. This starts with electing leaders who will tackle the real issues, not those funded by unlimited PAC money or beholden to elite interests, politicians, or the Chicago Teachers Union.

Until voters choose leaders who stand up to unions and demand real change, regardless of race, nothing will improve.

This is the kind of idiocy that has been a staple of Chicago thinking for decades. This woman needs science to tell her what is causing all the violence. How can the problem be solved when many of the leaders running the state, county and city don’t even think there is a problem. Brando, Toni, Lil Kim, Judge Tim and Governor Carnival Barker don’t talk about violence in Chicago, and take zero actions to address it. In fact, they are all violence enablers. That’s how you end up with a violence problem.

“ Violence is good!” say Brandon and all the other Marxists. It gives us an excuse to extract even more money for useless, feel good programs that accomplish nothing and line a few pockets along the way. It gives us an excuse to “ re- imagine “ the police departments are the judicial system. It gives us an excuse to turn a blind eye to life long criminals because we don’t want to “ demonize “ them by pointing out their criminal behavior.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
