Illinois voters approve an advisory referendum calling for higher taxes on income over $1 million – Chicago Sun-Times

Its passage could fuel efforts in Springfield in 2026, the year of the state’s next gubernatorial election, to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot to authorize the new tax on Illinois millionaires.

Not one thin dime of this cowardly tax proposal will go towards property tax relief.

Pandora’s Box was just opened to a progressive tax for everyone within a few years at most.

In many ways, like it or not, Pritzker was a big winner last night. His advisory on a graduated tax passed which Pritzker sees as the first step on the way to garner even more spending money but much more importantly to him Harris lost meaning that the 2028 Democrat presidential selection process is wide open leaving him a slot for his desired run for President.

If anyone thinks that JB will use any of the money generated for property tax relief, they’re delusional. The money will be spent in Chicago and on far left issues.

This is great news. I’m sure they won’t expand the definition of millionaire, whatever they decide that is. Illinois can’t help itself to save its own life. The good news is that the rest of the country will grow and prosper at the expense of states like Illinois. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Please keep it up.

I don’t fall into the “millionaire” category here in Illinazi, but this was a poor decision by the voters in the state that will continue the demise and I can’t wait to pack and leave in the next 18 months.
