Pritzker, Colo. Gov. Polis launch governors’ coalition to protect against ‘threats of autocracy’ under Trump – Chicago Sun-Times

The goal of Governors Safeguarding Democracy, or GSD, is to protect state-level institutions of democracy — and to utilize their collective legislative, budgetary, executive and administrative powers. Gov. JB Pritzker said it will “catalyze collaboration across state lines.” The coalition marks the latest national effort by Pritzker, who is considering his own political future as a third-term governor and a potential 2028 presidential candidate.

Yes. Toilets will protect you. Does Illinoisans’ stupidity know no bounds? Who among you believes that he is interested in protecting you?

Lol its not State secession if we use happier words, its just a group of like minded states joining together to oppose the Federal government we disagree with

absolutely no self reflection, perhaps what we did was a reason for the election outcome? naaaa its not our fault, lets continue to condemn and stereotype all those that didn’t vote for us and continue to do the same thing that cost us the election

Can any of these political animals identify specifically which ‘institutions of democracy’ are on the chopping block? Or is that just more meaningless drivel from the true autocrats?

A close female relative is all-in to believing we are moments away from Gilead (Handmaid’s Tale). She’s bemoaning all the rights women are going to lose. BUT, don’t ask her to which rights that may be, unless you want to be called a few vile names and be hysterically identified as a traitor to all women. She lacks an understanding of how government functions and isn’t interested in expanding her knowledge, unless it’s delivered on Tik Tok. Thanksgiving will be interesting and, unless the fad has changed by then, we might all be receiving blue bracelets this holiday season. Gonna… Read more »

The perpetually annoying oaf Cenk Uygur was recently interviewed for TRIGGERnometry. I admired Konstantin Kisin for attempting to get Cenk to cite even one concrete example of a threat to democracy or even hatred. Cenk simply couldn’t.

Konstantin received lots of Cenk’s usual obnoxious bloviating, but no substance, zero specific examples. Lots of hypotheticals, mostly fever dreams in Cenk’s head, but nothing that actually happened in President Trump’s first term in office. Zippo.

They are unhinged.

Second paragraph sounds like one of Jumbo Belly’s press conferences to discuss policy goals.

Apparently JB the Hutt either didn’t notice or doesn’t care that Kamala only won Illinois by single digits (8 points), which is less than half of the victory margin of previous Democrat POTUS candidates (Biden, H. Clinton, Obama). That is indicative of widespread and growing disgust with Democrat policies in general and Pritzker would have done better to take note of it and tone down the leftism a bit. I guess there’s a reason an acquaintance of mine calls him the “world’s dumbest billionaire”.

And who is protecting the average taxpayer from the Pritzker administration? Tax after tax after tax with no reforms whatsoever. Worst of it is they are still deeply in debt even with all the new and raised taxes.

Privately funded, or will Gov. Pritzker be looking for tax dollars to fund this needed and meaningful think tank.

It will be easy to tell who’s planning to run in 2028 by looking at the members of the coalition. We already knew about Jumbo Belly, guess Polis must be planning too. Everything these jokers say needs to be viewed in the context of their Presidential aspirations.

And to hell with Illinois’ interest. There’s no way to stop the punishment coming in terms of reduced federal money.

Absolutely and add to that the costs of all the headline grabbing spending on things like battery plants to further Pritzker’s appeal to the leftists as time goes on. I foresee deeper financial problems for Illinois because of all of this

Who are the dopey Illinois that are going to hang around to pay for the “Safeguarding Democracy” items currently funded by federal $ (like medicaid $ for migrants) that already over taxed Illinoisans will now be on the hook for? On top of all the now spent COVID/ARPA $ that are now apparently going to be permanently “baked-in” to future state budgets on the taxpayers dime. Time to load up the U-Hauls folks!!

Clay and Buck yesterday laughed on air when it was suggested JB could run for president. They said, without trying to mock him, that he was just too large. Said few people want to vote for a morbidly obese guy for president. No chance they said. Just like Chris Christine went nowhere.

Pritzker is an arrogant, smug attention getter that thinks he can run for president! All he’s going to accomplish with this, is to lose federal funding! That’s something that would hurt Illinois, he’s already working with (for the next 5 years) at a deficit! What an idiot!

A coalition of liars. One lied about the fact that parts of CO are being invaded and taken over by Venezuelan gangs and the other lies just about everything.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
