Trump has more power than any president in decades but plans to ‘waste it,’ Mayor Johnson says – Chicago Sun-Times

“With all of that power, he (Donald Trump) could change policy the moment he is sworn in. He could actually create investments for the people of Chicago the day that he is sworn in, appropriating billions of dollars for reparations across this country ... " Mayor Brandon John said. " ... We’re certainly not gonna let him play games with the people of this city. If he wants to work with us, he’ll have a partner. But if he wants to come and threaten us, [then] he has declared opposition to us.”

PDJT is reasonable, but negotiation is a 2-way street. If Brandon and Pritzker dropped the whole ‘sanctuary’ nonsense, abided by our immigration laws, and fully cooperated with ICE on deporting illegals, there may be some forgiveness on the improperly spent Covid monies or even bailout help. Otherwise, likely nothing. Lawbreakers and dividers like Brandon and Pritzker can’t be trusted with one thin dime.

IMO, Pritzker’s priority is political grandstanding, not the state’s interests.

Maybe he should ask Obama to help the black community next time he is here for a Democratic fundraiser.

Dear Mayor Johnson, You have been branded America’s worst mayor and rightly so. Sensible, clear-thinking, and fed-up Chicagoans have declared opposition to you because you are a CTU puppet. You are the one who brought even more chaos and upheaval to the most corrupt city in the nation. The crime victims of Chicago should demand reparations from you. Parents and students should sue you and the rest of the CTU thugs for destroying what was once good about public schools. (The menace is public sector unions and their outrageous demands, not Trump.) Taxpayers have already protested against incompetent leaders like… Read more »

I promised myself I’d never resort to name-calling when posting to wirepoints. So I apologize for calling the mayor a moron.
So I will just leave it at this: I am in opposition to the mayor and his Marxist agenda. I stand with Trump and vote straight Republican.
Guess I have to take a long vacation from Chicago news. It makes me sad. It was where I grew up and lived for many years. I thought it was better than it really was.
It is a good idea to be emotionally detached. Sincerely, Reese

“He could actually create investments for the people of Chicago…” LOL!!!!!!!! This statement alone just shows how incredibly stupid Raggedy is. It alone, should be the reason he should be “fired”. Government doesn’t invest you incompetent Marxist idiot. It is incapable of investing, it can only transfer money from those that have it to those that want it. “Reparations”? Yep, typical race card tactic, especially since he just had a bunch of black people in Shitcago vote for Trump but also tell him to his face at City Hall what a clown he really is. “Threaten us”? Wow, time to… Read more »

By reparations does he mean appropriating money from transfer payments to the new mistake by the lake for all the Federal funds wasted by the City and giving it back to U.S. taxpayers ?

Johnson using the words “waste”, “upheaval” and “chaos” is rich with irony he’s incapable of understanding. The guy would be a real hoot but for the reality of his presence and destructive ineptitude.

Do you mean not waste in on left policies and propaganda? He won’t waste it on you and JB

The only “waste” that Trump could do regarding Chicago is to give the City more money to “waste.” The solution to Chicago’s problems is to learn there is no money tree in DC to fund the endless number of programs that have dubious if any positive results other than spending money. The citizens are starting to learn perhaps as they howl over the possibility of a tax hike but what other way is there to teach them things are not free. Appeasement money has been thrown at Chicago for years now with the only accomplishment of demands for more appeasement… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
