The Chicago Public Schools increased property taxes from $2.4 billion to $3.8 billion, a 60.6 percent or $1.4 billion increase. Much of the increase is due to the reinstatement of a dedicated property tax levy to fund teacher pensions in FY2017.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
