Its insulting to have to vote against some policy that is clearly illegal and morally perverted.

Citizens of Illinois need to be able to vote to rescind Illinois sanctuary status as well.

Jonathan actually is not such a bad guy. Does what he has to do to cater to his base, but comes out on the right side of things more than most Dems do, and this is a good example. It really is a perfect topic for a citywide referendum

We’ve had a border with Mexico for what, 180 years? Why has it only become a major problem in the last several decades. Free stuff, of course.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
