Lost and stolen electronic devices are costing Chicago Public Schools dearly, report says – CBS2 (Chicago)

Altogether, tens of thousands of laptops, iPads, and cellphone hot spots were lost or stolen during the 2023-2024 school year, and 8,346 of those devices were detected outside of Illinois. A huge portion of the costs of these devices are paid for by a federal program called ERate. CPS is reimbursed up to 70 to 80% of the costs of these devices. The ERate program collects a tax from all of us on you cell, Cable TV, internet and telephone bills. They’re looting the system. It’s no different than the south africans destroying costly electrical transformers for the minuscule amount of copper, or the looting of active railroad tracks for the scrap value of the iron, or the destruction of a foreclosure for the $100 in copper plumbing in the walls. That’s just what these people – CPS students and employees – want to do. ANd it’s everyone, whites, blacks, hispanics, asians. Everyone is in on the grift, that’s why they are at CPS in the first place.

Pops always maintained that you can buy some folks new books and send them to school, but they’ll only tear the pages out to use as toilet paper.

That’s so funny and absolutely right as I see it! You have to really want to pursue something go to get any lasting value from it, generally speaking. Otherwise you’re mostly just wasting your time as well the resources being spent to provide it whether they be your family’s, your own or governmental.
