Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. CPS and CTU officials should be given “sanctuary” in federal prison!
Please read today’s Trib article on Brandon Johnson’s campaign donations. Seems BJ is entirely funded by CTU, CTU outright, and its stealth-sponsored neighborhood activist groups organized and funded by CTU for purpose of channeling more CTU cash to BJ.
CTU needs every recently-arriving migrant school-age child to bolster sagging enrollments at poorly-performing CPS schools. CTU won’t educate those kids, only want to exploit them to keep underperforming and under-enrolled CPS schools open. Those CTU members’ BMW payments and exotic vacations depend upon it.
CTU terrorist wishes do not supersede Federal Law. If ICE wants to bust into a CTU haven and deport the criminal illegal alien staff, CTU parasite members and students there is nothing their woke wailing can do about it. Any CTU vermin that obstruct ICE will be committing a crime and will be tossed into prison. Good riddance.
One more reason to avoid teaching students – with the added attraction of rationalizing higher pay demands. Turn the gyms into a dormitory and add personnel to hand out towels after breakfast so parents can be fresh and well-groomed while panhandling until lunch hour.
I don’t understand how this is legal. Voters approved referendums to pay taxes to build schools and budgets passed by elected leaders include amounts for education; neither of those two include provisions for immigrant protections and, while I haven’t looked, protecting immigrants is not in the teacher’s job descriptions. Oh well I am sure the Chicago voters will straighten it out…uh, won’t they?
I would like to see an anonymous poll of the rank and file teachers as to how many are actually on board with Gates nonsense. I’ll wager the majority are being bullied to go with the flow, as in many other unions.
It’s more than half because the teachers voted for her.
It’s OK to blame voters for the city and state’s problems, but not blame the voters who elected union leaders?
Sadly, many of my fellow teachers are no different than your typical low-info voter. They respond to sound bites. And yes, there are many school level union reps who bully as well. But, if you have no alternate facts or thoughts of your own to push back with, is’s less bullying and more lemmings to the clifff.
