Pritzker touts $55.2 billion budget with no new taxes, likens Trump Administration to Nazi Germany – Chicago Sun-Times

Gov. JB Pritzker compared President Donald Trump’s “authoritarian playbook” to the rise of the Nazis as he unveiled a $55.2 billion spending plan that also saves the state more than $400 million by nixing a health care program for adults who lack legal status. “It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic,” Pritzker said. “All I’m saying is when the five-alarm fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.”

No “NEW” taxes is the key phrase. That means without lying that all and I do mean all taxes already on the books can be raised but there are no new ones so he would be telling the truth.

Huh, that’s how I read that, too – weasel wording.

People who are familiar with IL budget politics, say that Pritzker’s faux ‘balanced budget’ is just the first act to massive tax increases. Yet, the IL legacy media ignores any critical analysis even though they proclaim to know more than most of use rubes and mouth breathers.

Budget would have been balanced if he didn’t invite all the illegals and give them free everything.

Silly silly silly.

Illinois, Cook County and Chicago waste taxpayer monies like drunken sailors, embrace illegal alien migrants as spending priorities rather than the spending priorities of their own USA citizen-taxpayers. Pritzker tore out toilets at his mansion to reduce his property taxes. Trump administration discusses $5000 refund checks to taxpayers, and ending IRS altogether. That’s a study in contrasting political viewpoints.

How does anyone support this goof? He is, and sorry MG if this is offensive, completely full of shit.

Even more sad, where is the local media? How do they not hold him accountable for his yarns?

JB, if you want to be serious, enact a ZERO BASED BUDGET.

Otherwise you are no less a carney than the man you continue to suggest is a Nazi.

Unbelievable.

I remember a certain Governor locking down the state for over two years and acting like he was the king of Illinois. That sounds like a Nazi move to me. This fools day of reckoning had better come soon , for the entire state’s sake!

So Pritzker’s address, broadcast in outstate news, starts off with a rant on Trump and then gives the supposed no new tax promise. Next up Pritzker cuts the budgets of programs that will get him the best bang for the buck hurting assorted “most precious” individuals the media will eat right up rather than addressing some administrative costs that need to be cut anyway. So, Pritzker creates a media storm with cherry picked funding targets then goes on to say something like “I warned you Trump blah blah blah.” Interesting daydream here and in it, once again, Pritzker literally hurts… Read more »

The actual budget documents are here. First thing I noticed is he wants to spend $150 million of federal money on Covid contact tracing.

HE CALLS YOU A NAZI BECAUSE HE WANTS YOU DEAD. Nazis are not human. Nazis are cannon fodder. Nazis are punched, beaten, hung upside down, put on trial and executed, shot dead. That’s what people do to Nazis. When JB calls Donald Trump a Nazi, and by extension, his enthusiastic supporters Nazis too, he’s say he doesn’t believe you deserve to be a part of his progressive utopian society. We know the only way to stop a Nazi is to kill, hurt and destroy the Nazi. He this what JB thinks of you. It is extremely dangerous rhetoric, very troubling… Read more »

This is almost as bad as your black people will never vote Republican bit, from a few years ago, that failed spectacularly. You sound as deranged as the far left lunatics with this mess and make us all look bad.

Where is the above incorrect? JB, and the language he has CHOSEN are about as despicable as one can act… Please, elaborate.

It’s a rhetorical ploy. My purpose in visiting here is to get informed and ultimately usher in positive change. Rather than offer suggestions and support, he’s giving Pritzker more credit than he deserves with his framing and distracting with incitement. We have the moral high ground, national power, greater numbers, competence, etc. In reality, Pritzker sounds like a broken homeless man crying for change and yelling insults at pedestrians.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
