Rockford City Council Committee votes to keep “All People Are Welcome” sign – WREX (Rockford)

all people welcome sign.jpgThe sign, which reads "All People Are Welcome," has stood at the I-90 entrance since 2018, but the debate over its message became a center topic when Ald. Chad Tuneberg raised concerns during a previous meeting. “People automatically think that the sign is talking about immigration. It’s not,” he said.

They must be considered toxic and unelectable there. Otherwise that wouldn’t be the case.

The article says the welcoming sign is for people moving to Rockford, visitors, and those passing through. Rockford’s PTs don’t welcome people to move there; it deters them from doing so.
