Illinois bill seeks to legalize prostitution and create sex workers’ rights, but faces opposition – FOX32 (Chicago)

Called the Keeping Sex Workers Safe Act, the proposal aims to protect those involved in work that can be incredibly dangerous. It would provide sex workers with the same legal protections, health access and benefits that other workers receive, and prohibit any discrimination against someone who is a sex worker.

You wonder if these leftist political animals ever think before they speak. You wonder if they can think and breathe at the same time.

If you need to somehow legalize prostitution and tax it, you have a spending problem. And zero conscience.

Sex work is not a career choice. No woman chooses sex work over other options. And “health access and benefits that other workers receive”??? Who exactly do they think will provide paid time off and holiday and vacation time to a sex worker? And a 401k retirement plan?

Hollywood however promotes sex work as lucrative life-style choice. This year’s Oscar-winning movie again features yet another happy hooker marrying a rich guy client.

Many sex workers do voluntarily because it pays wells, doesn’t drug test, and has a flexible schedule. Many even enjoy it. The internet is full of “when I used to hook” type long form journalism pieces. The darker underbelly of sex work however is the small number of women who are trafficked involuntarily and only do so under duress or force, and they are often underage r here illegal. It’s a smaller but certainly not insignificant portion of the market but growing due to demand. Interestingly enough, most of this is related to the rise of Onlyfans which has completely… Read more »

There was a time when gambling, narcotics, and prostitution were considered vices to be discouraged. But Illinois is fostering all three. It’s economy is increasingly dependent on vice. No wonder it’s losing population. Who would willingly stay in this s***hole if they didn’t have family connections?

Gambling, narcotics and sex-work actually powers much of Chicago’s neighborhood economy, probably the three together compose largest and most lucrative business-sector.

We are watching the destruction of society before our eyes. This is Sodom & Gomorrah on steroids. Remember in Genesis God negotiated with Abraham to find 50 Righteous people in Sodom then down to 10. Every depravity known was going on in those cities. Lot and his family were the only one that were spared but Lot’s wife turned around and turned to salt so only Lot and his 2 daughters escaped the carnage. Could he find 50 or even 10 in Springfield? I hope I got this right.

Statistically, it will probably increase sex trafficking. And do they really want women objectified more than they already are?

It also increases sex trafficking of minors. California recently eliminated penalties for street walking (As the precursor for a prostitution arrest) and now they say that the streets are full of street walking 12, 13, and 14 year old girls with their pimps sitting in cars nearby and there’s little the police can do about it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
