Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Typical. Another unconstitutional mess from the corrupt slime of Illinois Democrats. The first amendment grants freedom of speech. It also grants freedom to be silent. Illinois taxpayers will have millions more $ wasted on this losing court case. Until the unconstitutional Public Sector Unions are destroyed and crushed into the soil, expect more of the same.
I’m on board if IL also adopts Australia’s stringent rules of residency. If you don’t have gainful employment ( 300K Australia $ when my son was there) it’s “ g’day mate “, no ifs ands or buts.
Better to require an ID when voting, minimize the exceptions for voting by mail and require in person voting on Election Day. Everyone knows well in advance when Election Day is. The end of gerrymandering districts and term limits would be great too.
