Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Partisan politics infiltrating non-partisan local Illinois elections – Illinois Eagle https://illinoiseagle.com/2025/03/12/partisan-politics-infiltrating-non-partisan-local-illinois-elections/ * * * * * “Though municipal and school board races in Illinois are nonpartisan, voters may see many of the same political themes that were hallmarks of races during the 2024 presidential election cycle. The Democratic Party of Illinois is applying many of the same tactics it uses in partisan elections to this year’s local races. “We as the Democratic Party of Illinois should be defending Democratic values in every single election in nonpartisan and partisan elections alike, because all of these local offices have jurisdiction over super… Read more »
That pending Great Lake of Fire is ready and willing to take all these Demoncrats😈.
😮Suggest they repent today and leave that party while they still can. 🙏
No one seems to have noticed that yesterday the Democrats, specifically progressive Democrats, consolidated their power in the Chicago area by wiping out all remaining Republicans and moderate Democrats. Heck, Mayor Pekau was wiped out in Orland one of the last Republican strongholds. All throughout Cook County progressive slates won school boards, park district boards, township trustees, and even in my town, my usual normie Democrat alderman were blown out by full blown progressives now, replacing normal people with full-blown lefty nutjobs who care only about #Resistance and nothing else in my little suburban town. There’s virtually no normie Democrats… Read more »
Pekau ran afoul of the burgeoning Arab population after the incident with the kid getting smacked down that had a gun and marijuana in his backpack. Too many white liberals + a growing immigrant population that wants to call the shots spells doom.
I’m sure that didn’t help but it ultimately it doesn’t matter. Other than Manteno like Mr. Glennon posted below, Republicans were blasted. Low Republican turnout coupled with high Democrat engagement is a huge problem. There just aren’t enough Republicans or normie Democrats left to fight the power-hungry and eager Progressive Democrats that control blue areas. It’s difficult for a decimated IL GOP to counteract the well-funded and trained Democrats. Republicans would have to thread the needle every election in Cook County and that’s just not realistic. There aren’t enough of us left and those few Trump-o-crats or even closet Republicans… Read more »
It was indeed a very good day for the left, and not just IL. Even in those two House seats that Republicans won in Florida, their margin was cut in half compared to comps from November. The only notable exception I have seen so far was the anti-Gotion slate won bigly in Manteno, which we will be writing about.
