Concerns of neglectful behavior at Roseland Community Hospital are not new. A 2022 investigation showed that errors or neglect at the institution, which mostly serves Black people, has led to the deaths of several patients since 2020. Federal regulators have cited the hospital at least 72 times since 2017, more than any other hospital in Illinois at the time, according to the report.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
