The Chicago Teachers Union is pushing for over $7.3 billion in new taxes. One proposal includes changing the base corporate income tax from 7 percent to 7.92 percent, the highest rate permitted without affecting personal income taxes under Illinois law. This would raise $830 million in short-run revenue.
For most of us IL residents, there should be no doubt that this state is absolutely out of control in its spending. That means IL businesses and residential owners get continually hammered with higher and higher taxes and fees. As our thresholds of pain are met and exceeded, we can either move out of state or adjust our thresholds upward. Too many adjustments will mess with your mental health. Also, many of these IL pols responsible for this mess won’t be around to admire the heap of rubbish they created. At least they’ll have their six-figure pensions to enjoy in… Read more »

Bad idea, chasing away more businesses will not end well for anyone.

CTU needs to be investigated. It is no longer a teacher’s union, but a political organization who does not care about students, but is now about power.
That’s not a crime so why investigate.Their core mission is representing their members and they are doing so with their actions. You may not like it but you are not a member so your opinion about them means nothing to them. While you don’t like what they are doing, their members were so pleased they re-elected current leaders for another term.
Surprising that a bunch of underperforming, truant union dolts went with the gravy train. Not. Unfortunately, their victories are losses for the taxpayers, unlike unions in the private sector. If GM goes on strike, one buys another brand of car when the inventory dwindles and the laid off workers suffer at no cost to the taxpayers.
When you raise a giant middle finger to the people who pay you, sooner or later they will raise a giant middle finger to you. Will the black robes be enough to protect you when that happens? Time will tell.
Collecting a pension that was promised by the state is not sticking a “giant middle finger” to taxpayers. They were promised the money and the state will pay. Get over it and seek therapy if you can’t handle it.
Always the victim PP. Only in your sad little world.

A union with no one negotiating on behalf of taxpayers is a complete fraud. Mayor Turd Reich does not have taxpayer interests as a motivation.

Sooner or later. Tick tock.
You keep thinking that. It seems to keep you pension haters calm. Don’t you worry, you’ll be right some day. lol
And that’s why companies are fleeing rather than coming. Politicians must instead of using a pillow sleep with their heads up their arse
This map very closely resembles the exodus of people leaving the state, keep it up Democrats and JB.
