Illinois lawmakers are considering ways to generate and conserve more power with a plan to push for additional solar and wind energy; end a state ban on new nuclear plants; and incentives to build large batteries that store the energy produced by “renewable” solar and wind power. Consumers would also be urged to conserve more energy under incentives included in a more than 750-page bill that was presented in the final days of the legislative session.
All talk, expect higher rates. If you think Illinois politicians give a damn about Illinois taxpayers, you must have just gotten here last night.

Illinois boasts about attracting data centers but has failed to plan for the resources needed to power them. Near me, these centers are already running generators during peak loads because the grid can’t keep up. Solar and wind can’t deliver the gigawatts required for such energy-intensive operations. The only viable solution is nuclear energy, which takes years to develop. Meanwhile, we’re heading straight toward brownouts and skyrocketing electricity prices.

Yeah..well…at least we go rid of those dirty coal generating stations.
“Yeah. However, the electricity costs are now at the mercy of expensive and unreliable sources of electricity.”

Illinois lawmakers eyeing a remedy to a problem? Does this mean they are planning to resign?
That would at least allow for actual, practical solutions, instead of more money spent on pandering to the Climate Clerics.

Ask Madigan to call his buddies and ask them if he gives back the graft will he cut us a break. Gets hot in prison

Face it- in the long run, the consumers that pay their bills will continue to subsidize those that don’t, the state will get its share and the companies will get theirs. It’s a done deal, screwing the IL working stiff yet again.

Poor article. The power density is NOT there with wind and solar. It takes years to build a nuclear plant. Democrats have completely f*#ked up the electrical grid with their fantasy on renewables.
And now they are looking at big spending for battery storage for electricity from wind and solar. A taxpayer funded remedy, that won’t work, to patch over their folly.
Silly Democrats are repeating what Newsom and CA Democrats say – that’s the extent of their analysis. IL Democrats could care less about the deep economic harm they are doing.
