Lawmakers unanimously passed House Bill 3657 that aligns calculations of Tier 2 benefits for Chicago first responders with those in the rest of the state. Chicago officials warned the plan will cost the city billions, however. Both the budget and Chicago pension bill still need the governor’s signature.
If JB doesn’t veto HB3657 for Chicago cop & fire, then same deal will be passed for entire state, city, CRAZY 9,000 units of gov in a year…..what ya gonna do fat boy???
Fat boys got to decide quick who his base is going to be with presidential run? the public sector guaranteed upper-middle class? Or the chumbalone “working-class”?…here in Illinois he can’t have it both ways.

Pension reform is needed or the state could go bankrupt. Treat public pensions like private pensions. Dems need to stop trying to buy votes. CTU’s pension is ridiculous. No vesting period to collect, continue to accrue pension time even though not an active member. Johnson taught for 4 years, but now has 20 years in the union! Taxpayers cannot afford this. How about 10 years active membership to be vested, like private unions ?
The State cannot go bankrupt. Even if the constitution was amended to allow it, any bankruptcy would have to go before a Federal judge. The only way to avoid paying for Illinois’ bills is to leave.
Completely false and must have been pulled out your backside. Tier 2 members must wait 10 years for vesting. The “union-loophole” was eliminated in January 2012.
It looks like your reform criteria has been met. Time to get educated on the subject instead of just whining and complaining.
Seriously though. Good for you. You are happy in your new state and Illinois pensioners keep getting paid even without you living in Illinois. Everyone is happy.
Leaving Soon, just not soon enough

Reason? It is not their money. Pension costs are destroying the quality of life of the private sector taxpayer. The only hope for them is to leave the state and that is what is happening.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
