Gov. JB Pritzker said the state would not address the fiscal cliff alone: “There are lots of sources, right, the counties where there are residents who are affected, the city of Chicago, Cook County, too, and the riders themselves."
All the executive directors and board members should be dismissed for failure to properly manage their agencies. Treating temporary funds as permanent is grounds for termination.
Wait…What am I saying? Bureaucrats don’t get fired for incompetence. They get promoted. They get bonuses now and six-figure pensions later. Our incompetent former Transportation Secretary fancies himself presidential material.
**sigh**
Service reductions to focus on their remaining customer base and a corresponding headcount reduction will have to suffice.

Metra ridership peaked at 76.9 million rides…in 2008. 34.9 million riders in 2024.
The CTA rail ridership peaked at 241.7 million rides…in 2015. 127.5 million in 2024.
The CTA bus ridership peaked at 328.2 million rides…in 2008. 181.7 million in 2024.
PACE ridership peaked at 38.1 million rides…in 2006. 17.9 million in 2024.
Now the executive directors want more money despite their declining customer base. This executive-director-caused ‘cliff’ is pure extortion of the taxpayers.
Service reductions to serve remaining customers with commensurate headcount reductions at all RTA management and operating divisions first.
And no more expensive, impractical ‘green’ boondoggles.

Don’t need PACE or the CTA out of cook county, cut it should all be budgeted within cook, nothing from the rest of the state.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Look out below!
RTA needs to be reorganized, incompetent management and workers need to be terminated before they get a dime.
