Enforcement is difficult mostly because there is little desire to enforce campaign contribution restrictions. We need to create a position of state Attorney General to go after this kind of thing. Wait, we already have one? Oh, he’s busy fighting ICE? Seems like Harmon will use campaign funds to pay legal bills challenging the fine, which would be paid from campaign funds. Now he’s going to have to redouble fundraising efforts, such hassle for doing the people’s work.
Didn’t Madigan just go to jail for this type of crap. Not a problem. Break the law…get caught…change the law and make it retroactive to before he broke the law.
