While tenants in South Shore say they live in slum conditions they point to Mayor Brandon Johnson, along with Ald. Blacks have heavily criticized Johnson and the city for taking care of migrants, utilizing city services, while Black wards have suffered without them for years. In this case, the city and owners have agreed to pay $2,500 to 20 tenants who must move out of their buildings before the city shuts them down.
