Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Illinois politicians remind me of one thing and one thing only, Cartoon Classics.
PIGSTER will never win the presidential nominee let alone the presidential election. He’s a clown .
Mitchell is a safety valve to please the folks in the community while Guttman pursues his foolish presidential aspirations. Guttman sweated a couple of pounds off until he conspired to knock Richard Ervin out of the gubernatorial primaries, remember?
I can’t help but envision that if Toni Taxwinkle was a man, and 30 years younger, You’d be looking at Christian Mitchell. :-/
The person who championed a progressive income tax, no thanks just another clown.
What a surprise…
JB’s choice is a nod the his left progressive base….because that’s who shows up and VOTES, like it or not folks.
Mitchell’s selection shows that Mayor Johnson was NOT an aberration – This is exactly the woke Leftism that IL Dems want. Suffer the fools of IL.

Strike one. Strike Two. Strike three.
We have yet another leftist idealogue who will be lieutenant governor of Madiganistan.
Another dem pol / black pol who got his start as a “community organizer”?…I guess that way you can claim to be a progressive fighting “the machine” while being in “the machine”—Illinois style!!
Christian Mitchell, when in the General Assembly, sponsored one of the dumbest bills in history — to levy a special tax on investment managers in Illinois. It would have destroyed our financial sector. We wrote about it at the time here: https://wirepoints.org/legislation-introduced-to-drive-capital-out-illinois-in-effect-wp-original/. [This comment earlier said Mitchell was in charge of Pritzker’s failed “fair tax” effort to amend the state constitution to allow for progressive income taxes. I have deleted that because I think that’s not right. Sorry.]
In other words, for those who hope to see IL change for the better, this guy will be an impediment. Darn it.
