Federal Funds for Local Obedience: Immigration Clause Puts Dems in Bind – RealClear

A little-noticed provision in the “Big Beautiful Bill” forces blue states and cities to make a tough choice: Comply with federal immigration law or lose federal money for criminal justice aid. Sen. Dick Durbin, ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, argued that “Putting unnecessary stipulations on this funding is harmful and unproductive.” “Blocking funds for this purpose,” Durbin continued, “totally misses the mark.”

Hey Little dick Durbin, coddling criminals and demonizing police are also harmful and unproductive. Come to think of it so are senators like you who are do nothings except make situations worse.
Retire already you parasite.

Isn’t it funny in a way that the other day Pritzker was acting big and tough about a court case where he claimed he won the immigration issue against Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. The headlines even carried his message in the usual form. Now the reality comes out and regardless of what Durban says Illinois is not holding the right cards to outplay the Bill. Too bad JB but you lost this one; better luck next time.

I hope you’re right. Unfortunately, JB and the other democrats will happily thumb their nose at Trump and the average voter won’t know that means we, the Illinois taxpayers, will pay more money without the federal assistance. Since most people in this state didn’t vote for Trump they will happily assume that JB is doing the right thing to fight Trump. Oh well, more taxes for all Illinois residents. They seem to really enjoy them.

There’s any easy solution. IL needs to comply with federal laws. Democrats need to stop protecting illegals and criminals at law abiding citizens expense.

Durbin would do well to go into the night gently lest people point out when he “ missed the mark “ by voting against the Laken Riley bill, voted against releasing the Epstein file and sprung a life sentence serving convict that went on to murder an innocent woman over road rage. Zip it, Dick.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
