Trump administration requests voter data from Illinois elections board – Capitol News IL

The Trump administration has asked Illinois election officials for a copy of the state’s voter registration database, including sensitive data about individual voters and detailed information about the state’s efforts to scrub ineligible voters from the rolls. Lawyers from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division also asked for a list of all the election officials in Illinois who were responsible for carrying out federally mandated efforts to keep state’s voter rolls accurate and up to date during a two-year period leading up to the November 2024 elections.

things like this come down to what the law says and from what i understand, there is nothing in the law to require a state to submit the requested info to the fed government. the trump admin loves to appeal to the law when it suits them but completely ignore it when it conflicts with their agenda.

The headline literally has Trump as its first word. I hate Illinois too but come

You are right. I accidentally thought this comment was on the article about state financial statements when I was reviewing comments. Sorry.

Illinois will resist any efforts to make voter registration transparent.

Over 17K people registered to vote in Illinois during grace period voting but didn’t cast a ballot in the 2024 election. Majority of those were on Election Day, BTW the DMV was closed on Election Day…can’t blame motor voter.

Can the information being reviewed be requested under FOIA? Hoping the Feds can clean up even some of this and hold the elections in this state accountable to someone. Could be for interesting reading if we ever find out the results.

People that moved and were never removed or updated in the system are where the big numbers are. Voter cards for people that lived in my building a decade ago up to a few years ago showed up in the last big election. Multiply that error rate by every building in Chicago and you have an epic problem.

Time to find out who didn’t do what when. Whether or not there will be any repercussions for it is another matter. Having to force IL to be transparent is bad enough on its own.

I’m sure there are several ‘versions’ of the state’s voter registration database…

IL needs to maintain voter rolls like WI. But this will never happen. Cleaning up voter rolls would impede Democratic voter fraud. Also, how about mail in votes need to be postmarked 1 week prior to an election? Bit that won’t happen either. How would the Democrats know how many votes to “stuff” into ballot boxes?

The bigger issue is the gerrymandering of the districts for both state and federal offices. You can thank the convicted felon Madigan for that.

Raoul better sharpen your pencil I bet by tomorrow he files a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration. I can hear Pritzker also tomorrow saying this has no merit.

And I can hear tens of thousands of dead voters and criminal illegal immigrant voters wailing.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
