Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
I clicked on the link and I can honestly say I did not learn one thing about him.
I wrote “pro-homosexual+” instead of “pro-LGBTIA+”, because [deleted]
Aside from the issue of whether that’s a slur, there’s another reason why we are deleting your comment. From the start, we have not focused on the social issues here and haven’t hosted a debate on the core matters behind them. We want to keep it that way.
Cowardice. Sad.
While he may not be perfect in many eyes he does represent an alternative. Consider that last election Bailey, a much more conservative individual, wasn’t able to garner the Governorship by a considerable margin. Tracy does represent a break from the usual bunch of Democrats and should be given consideration. Look at it from the old glass full axiom. Tracy may not give you a full glass but half a glass is better than an empty one.
As shown above, he’s pro-homosexual+, and not MAGA. I wish that a better GOP candidate would enter the race. That being said, I would vote for him over Stratton or whatever warm body the Democrats nominate.
“Pro homosexual” is a polite way of calling them what they are and I admire your restraint!
Mark, I have noticed you are very good about removing comments which are racist or anti-semitic, but will let homophobic comments like Bud and Al’s (among others) remain. Any reason for that?
Absolutely not. We aggressively remove slams on gays. I support gay marriage and equality for gays. On the ones above, I am not sure what they meant by “pro homosexual,” or exactly what views they have that conflict with Tracy’s, so I decided to let them make fools of themselves. Maybe that was a wrong decision, but it’s sure not intended as tolerance for gay slurs. If there are other comments we should have deleted but missed (which happens sometimes), let m know and we will delete them.
MAGA is not anti homosexual. Against child mutilation yes. Against pedophiles and pedophile grooming of children yes. But not anti homosexual. Take your intolerance somewhere else.
Spot on.
Vote Republican. The Democratic candidates for senate are worse than Durbin. All of them are far left and will not represent all IL constituents.
Excellent. A credible alternative in this one party state. He will make a race of it.
Agree,
Web page might want to actually indicate he’s a Republican candidate?
The article states he was chair of the Illinois Republican Party.
Calling him a Republican would be a lie. He’s the former state Republican Party RINO chairman and has left a massive wake of losses he blames actual Republicans for. He hates “grassroots” folks. Oh, he also donated to Biden, never Trumper Lisa Murkoeski, called for Trump’s impeachment, etc.
Absolutely not! RINO!
Wow, the GOP circular firing squad starts shooting even before the Democrats.
Whatever. The guy has been attacking actual Republicans for as long as I can remember. Who the hell would want a guy that said he’d vote in Liz Cheney as President? There’s so much more. Illinois Review has been documenting his transgressions for a long time.

Illinois Review is a cesspool of nut jobbery. I’m a conservative trump loving republican and I stopped reading IL review about 6 or so years ago. Kooks and tinfoil hats there.
Liz Cheney is an actual .Republican
That is extra crispy true, Brian. Well played.
Some whiny ‘republicans’ in Illinois would screech that Abraham Lincoln isn’t conservative enough and is a RINO. How’s that been working out for them lately?
That’s the problem with the Illinois GOP electorate. Too many of them would rather have that “pure” republican rather than a moderate that can win elections. You can have half of what you want or nothing? They choose nothing.
Please tell us what he has done for you to assert he is a RINO. It is a genuine question.
