A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Note to Illinois Legislature: What did you expect when you added many services as required services, for example: hearing aids, drugs at fixed costs, wigs, laser hair removal, horse therapy, PBM head tax (partial list)? Those services are free to the Legislature but cost policyholders money. As the price of coverage rises, the market contracts (the insurers know that the only ones taking coverage are people who expect to spend more than the cost of the coverage), the number of people seeking uncompensated care rises and the costs get pushed back to employers, who, in turn, either cut back on… Read more »
