The CARE program was started in 2021, so in 4 yrs they’ve “helped” a ONLY a 1,000 people? What does “helped” include? talking to call-ins? handing out literature at the homeless camps?, etc
While the mayor’s office didn’t address questions about staffing or any possible plans for additional hiring, they said the CARE program has helped more than 1,000 people since it began.
Yes, they do the meaningless things you cited and call it making a difference. They also work 9-5, M-F and as a result, police are called out to intervene as we all know most trouble occurs at night and especially on weekends. Another example of a social services, taxpayer money black hole.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
