President Trump isn’t playing games, unlike these virtue signaling political animals whose games result in both citizens and immigrants of Chicago paying with their livelihood and lives.

the murder rate in 10 red states is higher than that of chicago or DC which strongly indicates that trumps threats to deploy the NG has NOTHING to do with crime or safety.

what was way before trump? if he was actually concerned about crime he would address the crime in southern states where it is rampant.

You forgot to mention that the murders are happening in the blue cities located in the red states.

states have no authority of crime in cities but somehow the federal government does?

Could Trump do a Pritzker and declare an emergency? How many laws (federal or state) are observed or enforced by prosecutors on Illinois payrolls?

i have not seen any data on that but if it is true then why don’t the GOP governors in those red states send the national guard to the blue cities themselves?

You’ve never heard of St Louis, Houston, Memphis having high murder rates per capita? All Democrat- run cities in red states. Almost every city in the country is blue and has been for years. This is not news.

National Guard? Who knows, maybe the governors will do exactly that.

Red states with democrat run large cities like, Memphis, St Louis, Birmingham, Kansas City and many more.

Chicago is a much larger city in size than DC and has a much greater population than DC. How many troops will be needed to cover all that area compared to how many in DC? From how many states? Will there be troops on the NW side because there are crimes being committed there. Troops on Michigan Ave.? Flood the south and west sides? Troops on the CTA? Lot of problems there. For how long? While Trump has had a lot of success in DC, solving Chicago is a much bigger, widespread problem best left to locals. What a lot… Read more »

Wally, federal troops will most likely be guarding federal property, and not carrying live ammo.
No traffic stops, no checkpoints, merely freeing up more of those officers who already perform ( FBI, INS, Homeland Security ) perfectly legal and authorized tasks.

Yes, let’s all give applause to anyone using denigrating remarks here. You are hardly a class act, although you probably received your share of accolades from your equally low-life friends in school for doing similar things. Didn’t your mother drill it into you not to do such things? Are you age 10? Probably not, so DO BETTER!

Because our governor would never call anyone a “ Nazi “, a “ facist “, a “ carnival barker “ or anything like that, right? If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out.

Last I heard two wrongs don’t make a right. Acting or talking like a numb-skull teenager isn’t something to be appreciated no praised no matter the offender. Here’s the advice parents used to give even to kindergarteners: treat others as you wish to be treated.

“Pritzker will declare war against the federal government”

Don’t you (meaning, Illinois residents) just love being on the wrong side of the next civil war?

The most underhanded, manipulative governor in the country commenting on “ playing games “ after he skips town with his family to avoid his covid edicts and emergency orders, can’t be transparent about hemorrhaging money and meddles in the SC elections in WI. This guy is a disgrace.

Per the U.S. Constitution, the president should limit his use of force to enforcing federal law and defending the country from foreign enemies. Chicago has the responsibility, if not the will, to enforce criminal law within its borders.

A responsibly they undermine by releasing felons with ankle monitors and letting violent offenders serve half of a token prison sentence. If the elected officials, judges, Soros funded DAs, etc. won’t perform their sworn duties, then we shouldn’t have to sit by and just grin and bear it.

The operative word being “elected”. Chicagoans elected their leaders and, yes, they must “grin and bear it”, vote otherwise or relocate. One should be wary of a president subverting state sovereignty lest one’s political opponents win the presidency and also use such powers unwisely.

Don’t look now, but DC has been murder free for 10 days and 1K criminals have been arrested. Dems are weeping openly.

Giles Caver

Indeed. Washington is a FEDERAL district for which the FEDERAL government is responsible. Chicago is located in the STATE of Illinois, which is responsible for NON-FEDERAL law enforcement in Chicago and throughout Illinois. Keeping FEDERAL and STATE governments separate is pretty much the entire reason for the U.S. Constitution.

Not when crime cannot be controlled by the state. Then the Feds can get involved. Blatantly allowing foreign nationalists to come undeterred and unvetted is just one violation.

President Trump just issued an executive order defunding jurisdictions that practice no cash bail.
Illinois Dems are on the wrong side of a 80/20 issue

You take federal money you play by federal rules.

It’s not too much of a stretch to argue that hardened criminals from other countries here illegally are foreign enemies.

ICE is enforcing federal law. Asking the National Guard to police Chicago is altogether different.

from Illinois Family Action: Critics argue the president lacks authority to act. But Title 10, U.S. Code, Section 12406 allows the president to federalize the National Guard to suppress insurrection or rebellion when a state fails to maintain order. That same law permits National Guard units to enforce federal laws—including immigration statutes—when they are obstructed. Some legal experts say street crime falls outside of federal jurisdiction. But let’s be honest: this is not “ordinary crime.” The U.S. has been infiltrated by foreign criminal networks empowered during the previous administration. They traffic children, run violent gangs, flood our cities with deadly drugs, and… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
