ICE ‘Gathering Steam’ In Chicago As Pritzker Slams Trump’s ‘Nefarious Plan’ – Block Club Chicago

“People are, frankly, afraid. People are afraid to come out of their homes. They’re afraid to go shopping. They’re afraid to take their own children to school because they have mixed-status households,” Gov. JB Pritzker said. “ICE is somewhere on the ground here. They already have been effectuating their plans. We have not seen the bulk of those ICE agents yet in communities, but we have seen some. And we know that they are gathering steam."

I agree that immigrants should have a quicker path to entry/citizenship, if that is what they desire. My STEM business requires/needs an immigration influx (all our immigrant staff entered legally, are legal, and are supported financially by our private firm in their process to obtain citizenship after legal visa status upon entry.) This is what’s insane… “One of the reasons that he’s been so unsuccessful is people know their rights here” Citizens have rights. Non-citizens do not. What’s even more insane is this… “We’re also taking them to court if they break the law in the state of Illinois.” So… Read more »

Pritzker puts illegals and criminals above US citizen taxpayers. Vote him and the Dems out.

Well, wow, if we didn;t have 4 years of an open border, this wouldn’t be a problem. Enough! Any sympathy that normal, rational people may have had has been destroyed by the nonsense.

If you are here illegally, go. Otherwise there is no choice but to remove you.

Nothing, even freedom, is free. It has to be nurtured, protected, and sometimes fought for….

This will likely be unpopular, but for folks that are here and working honestly, I am open to finding a quick path to citizenship for them. People that work benefit everyone.

Nope. They are working illegally, under the table payroll and stealing work from American citizens. Period. Deport them all. Then when we get a real statistics on available workers vs available jobs then allow a few in on temporary work permits.

We’ll agree to disagree. Many are doing jobs that US citizens will not undertake. Many have jobs and pay into SS, but will never receive benefits. You may misunderstand where your landscapers, table bussers, strawberry pickers, pork/poultry commercial butchers, and IL farmhands come from… These people are here, working hard, and paying payroll taxes. I am OK if they get a path to citizenship. I accept that you are not.

Additional information for you to consider: Many of “jobs that US citizens will not undertake” are because wages have been sucked down to very low levels by criminal illegal aliens. If they do “pay into SS but will never receive benefits” then they are using an illegal SS number. Too bad so sad; that’s the price of criminality and it wont begin to offset all of the freebie education, healthcare and other government handouts paid by real American citizens. It seems likely that you have no blue collar non-public sector working relatives or friends. I have many. Virtually all of… Read more »

I don’t entirely disagree. But, only for people who have been here more than at least 10 years. No amnesty for anyone allowed in under the Biden administration. I don’t care if they sell flowers or whatever. Those who took advantage of the Biden BS need to go.

Social services gobbling illegals afraid to leave their taxpayer funded homes? Good. Drug dealing cartel members likewise? Even better. Child molesters, sex traffickers and degenerates that murder women out for a jog also afraid? The cherry on top. I’m still looking for the downside Trust Fund baby and the Latinomarxists along with their professional trouble maker activists are wetting their diapers over.

If Illinois wasn’t a sanctuary state and criminals were in jail instead of released with cashless bail you wouldn’t need ICE or the National Guard.

Illegal aliens should be fearful – they are breaking our most basic laws everyday and effectively stealing from law abiding taxpaying citizens. I have NO sympathy.

Good, they should be afraid if they came here illegally. We are a country of laws.

All the fear he talks about is due to crime, not mixed status households and ICE.

The Chicago Sun-Times should be written in Spanish today.

If I still lived in Chicago I would not be afraid to leave my house.
Why?
I’m not an illegal.

Will an independent source calculate the crime rate over the next month? I am betting it will decrease despite what JB says.

It did in DC.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
