Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I don’t see the highlighted text as calling Republicans “Nazi’s.” It is a warning that totalitarians can take over if we’re not careful. Pritzker neglected to recognize himself and his allies as the threat, but that’s unsurprising.
Anything to disagree with there?
You don’t see the words “Republicans are Nazis” but that unquestionably was his point. For him to claim otherwise by parsing words is about like Bill Clinton saying “it depends on what the meaning of is is.” We criticized Pritzker’s speech about it in detail here at the time: https://wirepoints.org/jb-pritzker-says-he-is-fighting-against-nazis-in-astounding-speech-wirepoints/. In other places Pritzker said unequivocally that MAGA Republicans were fascists. and see that video going viral now:https://x.com/thekevindalton/status/1967703605064200632?s=42
When Pritzker says “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace” he is advocating for fear. When Pritzker says “Democracy requires your courage” he is advocating for action to cause fear.
Here is a video compilation of the times he called Republicans and Trump/supporters nazis
