Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. This loser Johnson should re-read the oath he took when he assumed his office.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I am duly qualified according to the constitution of this state to exercise the duties of this office to which I have been elected and that I will, to the best of my ability, exercise the duties thereof and protect and defend the constitution of this state and that of the United States of America. So help me God!”
Do his actions really represent the “best” of his abilities?
