This Chicago Teachers Union boss endlessly provokes the right. She’s about to expand her power. – NBC News

“This unanimous vote to elect her to represent the largest union in the state really speaks to people’s trust in her commitment to children and commitment to her members,” said Rep. Delia Ramirez. At the same time, deep divisions exist in a state where the CTU is viewed as winning favorable contracts in the same period when scores of Chicago schoolchildren lack proficiency in math and reading and enrollment has contracted even as administrative hires have ramped up and buildings remain underutilized.

Are the teachers downstate as radical as the teachers in the CTU? Are they going to like having their union dues support her progressive views on issues unrelated to educating children? Is she going to drag down their students test scores like CPS students?

The answer to all your questions is Yes.

They looked at Chicago and CTU and said gimme some of that.

I’m sure they elected her based on the extraordinary success the CTU has had in producing citizens who can read, write, and do math.

The rest of IL is screwed, but they just don’t know it yet. All Gates cares about is politics and power. She doesn’t care about students or education. Look at Chicago student test scores. Someone should audit CTU’ s books.

Stacy won because of the Illinois teachers’ general regard for the “ubi est mea?” principle. They see themselves sharing in the CTU’s boons: 2% pension payments, no accountability for results, extraordinary salaries and benefits and 1000 excuses for the benign neglect of the children under their care.

The facts that the teachers union is the largest in the state and their willingness to be led around by their nose rings by a tax cheating, racist water bill scofflaw that sends her kids to private school is a slam dunk case to decertify it and ignore its unicorn fart demands. The footage of the one mimicking Kirk’s assassination at a recent ICE protest ( overweight and Hispanic as the footage shows and looking suspiciously like the since disavowed by WGN “reporter “ that got deservedly bounced around by ICE ) gives us a glimpse into some of the… Read more »
