According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Illinois’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program error rate, how often the state makes a mistake in determining who qualifies for federal food aid, was 11.56 percent in 2024. That’s worse than 38 other states and higher than the national average.
Government employees. What did you expect? It’s not like they hire for ability. But what difference does it make? It’s not like the state has a budget crisis. How many people do you think will lose their jobs over this?

A 12 percent error rate is pretty good for these highly skilled financial managers running Illinois.

A billion here, a billion there. A $4.5 billion budget and they are over by 11%. Will it get a fraction of the airtime JBs winnings in Vegas did? There is someone in the white house that understands finances and it is likely to invoke more than a hand slap for the absolute carelessness and corruption of IL government. Funny how this never comes up in JBs pointless DJT rants.

They’re not making mistakes. They are intentionally giving away SNAP benefits to unqualified recipients. Illinois operates under the policy that if ask for benefits, you shall receive benefits.

Better than I expected from a government employee. They do not care about doing a job, just how soon can they retire with large pension at a young age. The question they all ask on their first day on the job is “when can I retire?”.

Penalties that never will be paid. As the hospitals that care for the indigent and habitual drug addicts have found out, IL doesn’t pay its bills which is why those medical centers such as Lorretto are closing their doors.

Just let the Fed’s keep the money, SNAP is so corrupt anyhow.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
