Mayor Katrina Thompson said she wants to permanently shut down the ICE facility, and that the protests and feuds with federal agents cause division, pain, and fear in the community. "I believe in democracy, and I believe in protesting, but I also believe in the safety of my community and that's why the executive order (restricting protest zones and times is going to stay in place ..." she said.
Has she lifted the rule on who is allowed to use her towns bathrooms yet?

Mayor Thompson is in a difficult position. I wonder whether her public works department might discover that repairs are urgently needed to the water supply and/or sewer system serving the ICE facility, and will require evacuating the space for an extended period. Or perhaps something even more creative.

I’ve seen the videos online from the Chicago area facility. It’s several hundred agitators, at most, causing chaos and mayhem day after day. The Trump administration should be able to crush the agitators in a weekend. But the protestors are politically useful to politicians so it is allowed to continue. The Evanston mayor and Jan Schaakowskiy’s replacement candidate are out there ‘protesting’ every day, getting publicity and likes on social media. It would be so easy to crush this civil disorder, lock these people up, and never hear from them again.
Isn’t Illinois Fun?

The mayor seems to have taken a reasonable approach to limiting protesting to certain places and basically business hours (how many protesters work and had to turn on their out of office email auto replies?). She may want the facility closed for a variety of reasons not the least being practical local public safety but that’s unlikely to happen. Why can’t protesters live with reasonable rules?

The center had been there for years before the paid Marxist agitators, with help from Latinoleftists and other bots, made a thing of it.

Want safety, ask the protestors to stay home (or actually work) and don’t interfere with law enforcement doing their job.

I think the government of the once great state of Illinois is causing the problems she mentioned. Our politicians pretending that immigration laws don’t apply here in our state. A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
