Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Some see chaos, others see a well crafted strategic roll out to get the illegal criminals to self deport.
Whoever designed the ICE Chicago strategy is a genius.
The underlying message to the illegal criminals is: We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way. Your choice.
So far the illegal criminals are choosing badly.

This is true. The optics of the chaos is great. However, most undocumented migrants don’t leave voluntarily. Some have but not a lot. Undocumented migrants are like squatters living rent free during an eviction, and refuse to leave unless the Police roll up with the moving van, and only then will they reluctantly leave.
I agree most won’t leave voluntarily, but I think over time that more will. ICE has been everywhere in the short time they been active in Illinois. It’s going to become clear to the illegals that once they leave their residence they are fair game and might not come back. It’s easy for ICE to target where the illegals work, because they obviously don’t have desk jobs in the Loop. If you want to catch fish, you go where the fish are. Always missing from the breathless reports by the local illegal friendly media is the fact that many taken in are gang members, have committed felonies and have already been deported/ given notice to do so. The heart wrenching report of the hell hole on the South Shore ( children in handcuffs! Oh, the humanity!) crawling with Tren gang members and squatters living in sub- human conditions is a prime example.
