I hear the kids in Manteno are pissed, they have to get a good paying job. Life was better living in the parents’ basement, playing video games, and smoking pot.
The Gotion factory is the largest economic development project in Illinois since Mitsubishi and Chrysler decided to build an auto plant in Bloomington-Normal in 1985.

A tax cut for small business would create more jobs across the whole state.

The investment per employee in an automobile manufacturing plant can vary widely depending on:

  • Level of automation (robotics, AI, assembly robotics)
  • Type of plant (assembly vs. component manufacturing)
  • Location (U.S. vs. Mexico vs. Asia)
  • Vehicle type (EV vs. gas-powered)
  • Highly automated EV or battery plants: $800,000–$1.2 million per employee
  • Conventional assembly plants: $400,000–$800,000 per employee
  • Parts or component plants: $150,000–$400,000 per employee
