Jesse Jackson Jr.: The south suburbs are one airport runway away from prosperity – Chicago Tribune*

"As Harvey descends into economic crisis, Tilton, Illinois, a small town south of Danville, recently lost 50 UPS jobs likely because it was too far from a major airport. ... We have the studies, the land, the money and the workforce. We just need Gov. JB Pritzker to release the land and unlock the gates to the global economy."

So Gary is a hub of vitality and prosperity today thanks to the Gary Airport?

Just like when land was needed for I355 and Illinois political animals cashed in mightily when that ROW was acquired by the ITA, Jesse Jackson (D-Budweiser) and his son (D-Bud Light) must own a lot of land where this fictitious airport goes.

Maybe have a seat and remain silent, D-Bud Light.

The residents of the south burbs are one red state away from prosperity! There, I fixed the headline.

You could add 100 runways in the south suburbs and they wouldn’t get prosperous.

How can a guy with bi-polar syndrome possibly handle a job like the senate seat he’ll be trying to win back. Isn’t that why he’s been collecting a disability check every two weeks.

Because it’s a do-nothing job.

Sure, sure Jesse. Airport expansion project…$500M or a $1B should do it. That should open up a nice loose Chicago/Illinois project that plenty of graft, corruption and patronage jobs can be provided to his pals and contributors. Once a Grifter always a grifter.

Jesse, there’s just one thing that would be lacking — airplanes. No airline, freight or passenger, has said it would go there.

What? The Gary Airport is a thriving hub of commercial aviation.

Oh…wait…

Once a grifter always a grifter and he learned it from an expert at grifting…his father. Harvey is in the shape it is in not because of there not being an airport but because of the political corruption that has been going on for decades. Harvey was a dump long before the plant closed in 1986. There is so much more BS in his self serving rant that isn’t true. If the airport was a viable solution, the airlines would be behind it. They aren’t because it isn’t. O’Hare and Midway are cash cows for the city and the thieving… Read more »

What about the already built hardly used MidAmerica airport in St Clair County. It is even staffed already despite its lackluster use and it does fit the bill by being built not that long ago with taxpayer dollars.

Can it, Jr. No one needs your input and one crooked Jackson in politics is enough for IL. Still drawing that 148K / year pension for your ADHD? Take it and shut up.

Jessie knows a lot about run (a)ways, they stopped him on the run before he went to prison.

Does Jesse know there’s a nearly mile long runway at the proposed South Suburban Airport site? It’s called Bult Field on 276th and Kedzie. His plan makes no sense and is merely a vehicle to grift taxpayer money.

If anyone would do a deep dive back to the 60’s and 70’s you would see some familiar names on the property deeds
Vrodolyak,Daley,Jackson . They own that land and lease it to farmers

Jessie, Jessie looking for some more folding
money on the side. You got caught once maybe a
longer prison sentence next time.
how about the capacity of the Rockford
airport they recently expanded to handle more
cargo flights, your 10000 foot runways and
flights will interfere with Midway/ O’Hare
air space. Illinois is losing businesses and
jobs or did you not see the reports.

The 3rd airport the region needs is Gary/Chicago. The rail infrastructure is there and the road structure could be there too. Repurpose the Skyway, eliminate the toll and limit it to trucks and you’d eliminate a lot of traffic on I-94. The downside is Illinois grifters like J. Jackson Jr. would lose control of the project.

Your plan to use Gary Airport is far too sensible.

And, wait a minute, eliminating tolls? Again makes too much sense, so ya know, it will never happen.
