Illinois parents, taxpayers shut out when teacher strikes threatened – Illinois Policy

At least four teachers unions in Illinois have threatened to strike since the beginning of the current 2025 school year. Only two of the four contracts that were ratified and approved have been released to the public.

In my downstate utopia school district elections can be described as very low turnout elections. Obviously the majority of the voters choose to sit out the elections and let a small minority make their decisions for them. I can only assume that the school situation is exactly what the citizenry wants. My views are a polar opposite, but as always, I am always outvoted.

At least you understand the problem is voter apathy and not because the elections are “rigged” as many people here like to pretend. Like you, other voters in my area vote differently than what I would like but I accept the outcome of elections and not blame some random boogeyman.

What exactly gave you the impression that anybody in Illinois leadership ever gave a crap about parents or taxpayers? Think about it. It’s a serious question.
