Someone has to pay for the lavish lifestyle public union employees have become accustomed to.

So many good points made in this interview. And it’s obvious the public officials are not going to address the problem A tax revolt is the only answer and the people will have to start it.

I was in City Hall on Monday. The third floor Assessor’s office was packed full of seniors.

If anyone is wondering why one half of City Hall floors are clean and the other half is dirty, it’s because one half is managed by the city and the other half by the county.

Mark next time your on AM560 which is usually on a Tuesday at 730am with Dan Proft maybe you can schedule a program segment about property taxes in the collar counties, I think listeners would really appreciate it and call in with there comments on how high taxes are for taxpayers out here, Thanks.

People who pay property taxes and worry about rising taxes do not also think everything in life is free. You are conflating two very different groups of voters.

The ones who need to wake up to reality are the ones who have voted themselves ever increasing gulps at the public trough.

1000% right here, trust me RB, not everyone voted for this like people seem to think.

I beg to differ. There is a considerable amount of eligible voters that do not vote and in doing so cast their votes, in effect, for the majority that do vote. They are apparently happy with the way things are so I assume that they too want more goodies or else they would get off their duffs and vote against them.

So how does this literal confiscation of private property by the government come to an end? Maybe when there is no more private property! communist government goals are to disolve the family unit, control private property, and the means of all production. illinois is a waste of life.

It would be interesting if the community that has for years received city services not proportional to what they have paid in taxes decides not to foot the increase. I wonder how that would shake out if the guilty white libs, Gold Coasters and North Siders did the same? A tax revolt is looong overdue- from those that have paid for the services rendered to others in IL from Rockford to Cairo.

Serious question – How would a tax revolt work? I understand that people wouldn’t pay their taxes, but the corrupt politicians in Illinois and Cook County would simply seize it or put additional liens on the property. Taxpayer would still be the loser. Legitimately curious.

Not sure if revolt captures what will be the first stage scenario. Many in income neighborhoods will simply not be able to afford the tax increases. This will result in a tax liens and diminished property values. Lots of legal costs and not beneficial to the city or its residents. Of course people will be upset hence a reference to revolt but really just a large step to economic despair.

At 5:52 he meant to say there is no correlation between taxation and representation.

No Tax revolt, but higher and higher taxes. It is revolting but the pension explosion is happening and cannot be stopped now. Chicago is run by the public sector unions that still want more money and benefits. The old say is “Shut up and pay your taxes” is true. The only way for the taxpayer to revolt is to leave the state as tens of thousands already have. Wire points has spoken out for years for more fiscal responsibility in government and nothing has changed, except more debt and higher taxes.

Chicago needs to just stop digging and file bankruptcy, the question is can a bankruptcy judge override the pension guarantees in the Illinois constitution if not everyone BUT the public union people will be screwed and if you own a Chicago bond just burn it.

Save the bond burning until the really
cold weather hits. The natural gas bills
are no longer affordable, just look at the taxes and fees to pay for those who can’t
or won’t pay are adding up.
the bonds burning will keep you warm at least for a while.
