Eight Illinois Congressional Democrats Vote Against Bipartisan Resolution Condemning Socialism. Two Others Don’t Vote. – Wirepoints Quickkpoint

All 199 U.S. House Republicans and 86 Democrats voted last week in favor of a resolution condemning socialism. It passed by a strong 285 to 96.

But eight Democrats from Illinois voted against the resolution, joining 90 Democrats from other states. They are  Sean Casten, Danny Davis, Jesus Garcia, Jonathan Jackson, Robin Kelly, Delia Ramirez, Jan Schakowski and Lauren Underwood. Two others apparently did not have enough conviction on the matter and did not vote — Raja Krishnamoorthi and Michael Quigley. Kelly and Krishnamoorthi are also candidates for the U.S. Senate. They are no doubt mindful that polls say most self-identified Democrats now say they prefer socialism over free enterprise.

All Illinois Republicans and all other Illinois Democrats in the House voted for the resolution.

Not a single nation has ever achieved prosperity under socialism and many of history’s worst mass atrocities have been committed under the socialist banner. Eternal shame on all who did not vote for the resolution. We’ve often said the today’s left stands for “stuff that doesn’t work,” and there is no better illustration than its new embrace of socialism.

Almost as scandalous, not one Illinois news source reported the vote and no editorial has condemned the resolution’s opponents. Only a few years ago, this all would have been truly unthinkable.

Reps. Sean Casten, Danny Davis, Jesus Garcia, Jonathan Jackson, Robin Kelly, Delia Ramirez, Jan Schakowski, Lauren Underwood. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Michael Quigley.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Thank these ten for nothing.

I would expect this type of outcome from this clown car of idiocy. Their combined IQ would hardly warm up a room. Illinois sends its dumbest to Washington and Springfield, thanks to the Useless Chicago Media and suburban AWFLs.

Do not understand how elected officials in the United States of America cannot vote (however symbolically) to condemn Socialism. Are they that afraid of their own shadows and losing some sort of liberal vote? Grow a pair, stiffen your spine and have a damn opinion. Wimps.

When the feds got 10% of Intel, was that socialism?

illinois has a population that is so dumbed down, drugged up, and fiscally backwards that socialism makes perfect sense. Anyone still living there must love the misery in watching the disasterous outcome.

Just when you think things can’t get worse.

There are ONLY 17 Congressional Districts in Illinois. (14 Dems; 3 Repubs)

I think you meant to say that the MAJORITY of the ILLINOIS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION refused to condemn socialism.

Illinois politicians and newspapers are the reasons Illinois is in such sad shape and getting worse. I really think they all want to destroy Illinois. Obviously they don’t care about Illinois constituents.

“ Look mommy- I see ten communists from IL!”. Anyone that votes for these piles of dreck needs their heads examined.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Either they are sympathetic to socialism and/or too afraid of alienating DSA voters. The US is the most prosperous economic colossus of all time, yet these thinkers for the ages seem not to realize that over history, including the current day, that economic hardship has been the default with prosperity only breaking through in various times and places.

More importantly I’d say is the notion of fiat currency. These marxist Democrats vote for $T deficit spending w/o batting an eye. These marxist Democrats shut the whole Federal Govt down for 6 weeks demanding that illegal aliens get free healthcare amongst the other free things they already get. And yet they have the termerity to say capitalism is no good and doesn’t work. The public unions and Democrats are a real witches brew of economic failure and destruction.

Anti- Trumpers at all costs, pot head, two that attended school with King Tut and are finally stepping down, a “ I am Ecuadorian, not American!” or whatever the f country she claims allegiance to and others of varying degrees of stomach churning vileness. A real All Star team Lenin would be proud of.

That vote is your proof that IL Dems are the vanguard of Communism in America.

The Chicago fake news fraud liars are complicit.

Bring back the House Unamerican Activities Committee.

I doubt if they could even agree on the definition of socialism. Public socialism? Corporate socialism?

“Not a single nation has ever achieved prosperity under socialism.”

Gaddafi-era Libya seemed to be doing just fine, with oil profits for example being direct deposited into people’s bank accounts. A review of the Alaska Permanent Fund would also be beneficial.

Germany in the 1930’s was one of the most prosperous nations at the time, when most others were in recession or depression. Guess who made the front page for Time Magazine’s Man of the Year in 1938?

“A Socialist is one who serves the common good without giving up his individuality or personality or the product of his personal efficiency. Our adopted term ‘Socialist’ has nothing to do with Marxian Socialism. Marxism is anti-property; true Socialism is not. Marxism places no value on the individual, or individual effort, of efficiency; true Socialism values the individual and encourages him in individual efficiency, at the same time holding that his interests as an individual must be in consonance with those of the community.” – Adolph Hitler – Europa Part 3: The Rise Of Adolph Hitler “Germany issued debt-free and… Read more »

Looks like the Schact(Schacht) character and his bonds was on the scene mostly pre-1935. Thanks for the tip. “Upon the accession of Adolph Hitler as Chancellor in March 1933, a massive privatization program was initiated which bears the finger-prints of Wall Street. Dr. Hjalmar Schacht–re-appointed in March 1933 by Adolph Hitler to the position of President of The Reichsbank— was invited to the White House (May 1933) by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Barely a year later, in April 1934, The Economist “reported that military expenditure was forcing the Minister of Finance to look for new resources” including the privatization of… Read more »

Libya’s prosperity didn’t last because it was bombed back to the stone age during the Obama administration. Not due to failure of their brand of so-called socialism. Will try to comment on Germany later today.

Right. Just like all that prosperity in the workers paradise of Venezuela sitting atop the worlds largest proven oil reserves and nearly 20% of all global oil reserves. Those dumpster diving Venezuelans are living in the luxury of socialism. Proving that socialism can fail even BEFORE running out of other people’s money.

“More speculation has been raised on the reasons for NATO’s intervention in Libya. According to some it’s about protecting civilians. Others say it’s about oil. But some are convinced intervention in Libya is all about currency. Specifically, Gaddafi’s plan to introduce the gold Dinar, a single African currency made from gold. A true sharing of the wealth.” – Gaddafi The Truth About Libya – Documentary

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
